ABOUT OBRA

I love hearing about what people do for work – the variety of ways that people earn a living seems limitless. I started this project in 2017 and I’m on a quest to find as many women as I can with all sorts of different jobs, collect their experiences with the work they do all day long, and share them here. I want to know what drives them, what exactly it is they do for over 2,000 hours a year, what led them to where they are, and what they are shooting for next.

“Obra” is a useful word in Spanish. Included among its many translations are: work (as in an artistic work), deed, construction, life’s work, workmanship. It’s the intersection of motivation and passion, drive and creativity. Let’s learn from, take comfort in, and be inspired by each other’s successes and failures… and be excited the next time someone asks “So, what do you do?”

I’m always looking for women with exciting careers and stories — please reach out if you’re interested in being featured or if you know someone who would be  interested!

I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I enjoyed meeting all the the awesome, smart, hilarious women who told them to me!
